Automatically Joining as a Fan When Adding a New Entity

From now on it is possible to join an entity as a fan when a user adds it to WhoseFan.com. Previously users could only join as fans after adding the entity.

To join an entity as a fan automatically, simply mark the "Automatically join as a fan" check box (as shown in the screen shot) when adding a new entity.

Thank you ladytinker for this suggestion.

New Feature - Integration With Twitter

I've started playing with Twitter and I'm glad to inform our members that now it's possible to automatically update Twitter when you join something as a fan. It's so cool. The integration is still in an experimental stage but works quite well. More updates are being elaborated.

For example, when you add a link or post a comment or add a video, it will be automatically reflected on Twitter. So stay tuned.

Oh, by the way. To activate Twitter updates, just go to Settings and click the Twitter logo.

New Feature - See What Has Been Added Since Your Last Logon

WhoseFan.com has become quite a dynamic website and I'm glad to see the fans contribute so much stuff. New entities are being added almost on an hourly basis. If you log on to your WhoseFan.com account once or twice a day, there is a good chance that at least a dozen new entities have been added since your last log on.

From now on, after you log on to your WhoseFan.com account, you can see how many new entities have been added since your last logon. By clicking the link, you will be directed to a page where you can see all new entity thumbnail's in a single screen. That's it!

The functionality of WhoseFan.com blogs is quite minimalist at the moment, but new features are already on my to-do list and will become available gradually.

You can check out my WhoseFan.com Blog at http://www.whosefan.com/George%20S_.blog

As always, your comments, suggestions and criticism are welcome at anytime.

New Feature - Integrate YouTube Videos in WhoseFan.com

Hi everybody! It has been a while since I've last posted on the blog. Well, we are live and doing great!

I've been receiving a lot of feedback with requests to add multimedia functions to WhoseFan.com. I'd glad to announce that from now on it is possible to add YouTube videos to WhoseFan.com quickly and easily.

All you have to do is to copy the video URL from YouTube.com. You can copy either the address from your browser's address bar or the URL given in the YouTube URL textbox. Both alternatives are marked red on the YouTube screen shot.

Then you must paste the URL in the URL textbox at WhoseFan.com entity page and specify the title of the video. That's it.

More Social Networking at WhoseFan.com

Recently I've added user profiles to WhoseFan.com. I've made a step forward and added new functionality to user profile pages.

From now on, a profile page, along with the user's profile, displays all posts and links submitted by a particular WhoseFan.com user. It is also possible to see all friends of a particular WhoseFan.com user.

More functionality to facilitate social networking is being elaborated and will be available shortly. Stay tuned and check WhoseFan.com frequently.

Private Messages

Recently I've started getting some feedback from WhoseFan.com users. Most of them suggested that WhoseFan.com needed a functionality of private messages. So here we go. WhoseFan.com has its very own private messaging functionality.

Happy messaging and enjoy WhoseFan.com

New Fans on the Homepage

I think that there should be a way for new fans who have just joined WhoseFan.com to get an "exposure" :) So now the latest 5 fans who have joined WhoseFan.com are visible on the homepage, right in the Top Fans section. Also, I've renamed that section and now it is called Top Fans & Newcomers. Welcome aboard!

Express Yourself With Emoticons

Okay folks, from now on it is possible to use Emoticons (aka smileys) in comments. All existing posts with valid emoticon shortcuts (i.e. ":)", ":(", etc) will be shown with emoticons instead of plain old text. This nice little functionality was missing on WhoseFan.com and now we have it. Enjoy WhoseFan.com.

New Features - User Profile, Friend Lists and more

I have added a couple of more features to WhoseFan.com to facilitate the web site's social aspect. So, let's review them.

1. You can now create your WhoseFan.com user profile. None of the fields are mandatory, so you are absolutely free to provide as much or as little detail as you would like. Moreover, you can designate your profile as public (i.e. every visitor can see your profile) or you can allow only users that are your friend to view your profile. In either case, your e-mail is not revealed and stays private.

2. Naturally, it is now possible to view other users' profiles. Simply, click a user's Nickname or avatar and you will see the user's profile. The profile page provides detailed information about a user.

3. From a user's profile you can add the user to your friends list.

4. In your account, you can see your friends list and remove users from the friends list as well.

Upcoming features will include support for sending e-mails to your friends, as well as sending private messages. Stay tuned and check us out frequently.

New Feature - WhoseFan.com Signatures for Forums and Blogs

From now on you can insert your fan signature in forum posts or blog comments that you write. Simply you go the entity that you are a fan of and click the GET SIGNATURE FOR THIS ENTITY button. Select the type of image and code and you are done.

At the moment there are 2 different type of images but I will be adding more variations shortly.

Please note that some forums would not allow you to insert DYNAMIC code, so please grab the DIRECT IMAGE link.

Finally as a big fan of Prison Break, I put the signature button below for demo purposes.
